The Fraternal Order of Moai fellowship assembled at our National Convention in 2010.
The Fraternal Order of Moai is proud to announce our annual donation to the Easter Island Foundation in 2023! Thanks to all of our wonderful Ohana attendees, sponsors, and donors, FOM has raised $57,005 this year for our national charity partner, the Easter Island Foundation (EIF).
As you may know, much of this donation supports university scholarships for youth of Rapa Nui heritage. We also annually support the Toki School through this donation. The Escuela Toki Rapa Nui has several objectives on Rapa Nui; it provides music education in both classical and indigenous traditions, while working to preserve the Rapa Nui language, dance and the disciplines of the island’s cultural heritage.
In addition to support for indigenous Rapa Nui students and our ongoing support of the Toki School, the Fraternal Order of Moai continues to work closely with the Easter Island Foundation and local island leaders to seek out additional ways to support the Rapa Nui community.
In addition to our support of the EIF, we have also made charitable donations in 2023 to the Hawai’i LGBTQ+ Legacy Foundation, the Hawai’i Youth Symphony, the Lanai Cat Sanctuary, and gave a whopping $77,000 to the Maui Strong Fund, to assist with fire relief efforts. We would especially like to thank all of our community donors who assisted in reaching our match goal, and Trader Vic’s for their additional gift of $15k toward this very needed relief effort. Also, our thirteen regional chapters and members at large across the United States, Canada and Mexico continue to raise funds for local and international charities.
Our primary fundraising event, Ohana Luau at the Lake, takes place in Lake George, NY in June each year. Come and join us this summer and have Fun with a Purpose! Mark your calendars for June 27-30, 2024! https://www.luauatthelake.com/
